Israeli record company that was formerly a subsidiary of CBS Inc. from 1964–1988.
Established as CBS Records (Israel) Ltd. on 8 March 1964, as a joint venture between by CBS Columbia S.A, Switzerland (63%) and Schmidt Holdings Ltd., Tel Aviv (27%). Simon Schmidt also was its first managing director.
A manufacturing plant (vinyl pressing and cassette duplication) was opened on 28 October 1964.
In 1977, Simon Schmidt’s wife Shirley Schmidt was named head of CBS Israel, the first woman to lead a record company for CBS.
The company became independent in 1988 and the name was changed to NMC Music Ltd.
