~ Release by Grant Green (see all versions of this release, 1 available)
Annotation
This release presents two complete Gran Green LPs in their entirety: "Goin´ West (Blue Note BST84071), which is dedicated to country & western songs, and "Feelin´ the Spirit" (Blue Note BST 84071), a collection of old spirituals. Both albums were taped in a small group format with Herbie Hancock on piano, and Billy Higgins on drums. The former record features a quintet, with the addition of Butch Warren on bass, and Garvin Maxxeaux on tambourine, while the latter was cut in a quartet setting with Reggie Workman on bass. Green´s 1961 quartet version of the Gospel-related "Shadrack" has been added here as a bonus.
